 Hiring Accounting and Finance Manager for our Freight Forwarding office in Torrance, CA. This position will be managing the overall general accounting function, including but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger. This position ensures the accurate compilation, analysis and report of accounting data and acts as liaison between the company, government, client, and CPA auditors in providing the required information and ensuring proper information is maintained.

Pay Range: $100k-120k

Job Type: Full-time, on site

Schedule: M-F; 8am-5pm

 

Responsibilities:

  • Confirm financial status by monitoring revenue and expenses; coordinating the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data; and preparing special reports
  • Maintain accounting controls by establishing a chart of accounts and defining accounting policies and procedures
  • Guides other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy and applying observations and recommendations to operational issues
  • Maintains financial security by establishing internal controls
  • Avoids legal challenges by understanding current and proposed legislation, enforcing accounting regulations, and recommending new procedures
  • Manage financial accounting and reporting for all client entities, including consolidations and inter-company reconciliations, with recommendations for process improvements
  • Assist CPA with yearly audit requirements and enter adjusting journal entries
  • Work with outside CPA firm for reviews, audits and corporate tax preparation
  • Facilitate implementation of new systems and major modifications of existing systems to reduce downtime
  • Establish financial status by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information, and managing accounting staff
  • Accomplish accounting human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; and enforcing policies and procedures
  • Achieve accounting operational objectives by contributing accounting information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; and implementing change
  • Support organization financial objectives by providing financial analyses and recommendations and directing staff
  • Train, coach and mentor staff on related processes and procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders, employees and customers
  • Report and be accountable to the Parent Company in Japan
  • Provide monthly and quarterly reporting using designated packages, etc.
  • Approximately up to 25% travel required 

Requirements:

  • Five to ten years’ experience in accounting and/or finance with similar organization or with a major CPA firm 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA preferred
  • CPA preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of financial and legal best practices and requirements with a proven ability to provide sound and ethical financial counsel to executive leadership
  • Thorough understanding of and personal involvement with systems and methodologies of finance and administration
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Able to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Must pass credit and criminal background check
