Field Manager – Telecommunications
Description:
Candidate MUST have:
- Must be located in the Louisville market and cover the surrounding area.
- Must be willing to travel up to 80% of the time.
- Previous T-Mobile experience is strongly preferred.
- Must have experience with installation and equipment knowledge related to telecommunications infrastructure.
- Must comply with the attached travel policy.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.

The following must be completed and available at the time of hire:
- CPR
- BBP – Blood Borne Pathogens
- RF Awareness – Radio Frequency Awareness
- OSHA 10 (10-hour course) + Fall Protection or OSHA 30 (30-hour course)
The Field Manager is responsible for supervising the construction of cell sites by third-party partners. This role requires an understanding of site construction, including site walks, installation, acceptance, commissioning, and integration. The position also involves troubleshooting hardware and software systems as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the installation of 4G and 5G antenna systems, including mounting hardware, RF fiber, AC/DC power cables, and related equipment.
- Support troubleshooting activities, particularly related to RF and fiber optic cables and connections.
- Oversee the installation of radio cabinets, DC power systems, and telecommunications infrastructure.
- Operate and oversee the proper use of a bucket truck with an aerial lift.
- Read, interpret, and execute engineering work plans.
- Supervise telecommunications and construction equipment use for installation.
- Ensure partners follow all safety guidelines, especially when working with power systems or at heights.
- Adhere to all state and federal safety regulations (OSHA, local vendor policies, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with local build standards and regulations during site construction.
- Manage supplier activities, including rollout schedules, skills verification, payments, tools, health & safety, and quality control.
- Conduct daily supplier meetings and status updates.
- Validate technical site surveys, scope packages, and bill of materials.
- Coordinate equipment repair and return processes.
- Oversee site quality throughout implementation and acceptance phases.
- Review and approve or reject site acceptance documentation.
- Validate and approve change requests related to project scope.
- Oversee installation, commissioning, operations, integration, and maintenance of telecom equipment.
- Provide detailed reporting of project activities.
- Ensure closeout data is compiled, reviewed, and submitted in a timely manner.
- Install, maintain, and repair radio access nodes and core network transmission equipment.
- Collaborate with other technicians and customer technical staff.
- Oversee microwave installation, commissioning, and alignment.
- Implement and understand RAN, RF, and transmission designs.
- Possess basic knowledge of antenna and RF configuration at cell sites.
- Understand grounding principles, various electrical voltages, and safe connection methods.
- Interpret technical documents such as blueprints, diagrams, and manufacturer specifications.
- Implement health and safety standards.
- Follow detailed verbal and written instructions.
- Willingness to travel and work outdoors in all weather conditions when required.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license.
- Two or more years of experience in a network rollout discipline.
- Two or more years of experience in the wireless industry.
- First Aid/CPR certification required.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification required.
- IC&I and troubleshooting experience in UMTS, LTE, WCDMA, CDMA, and GSM (certifications a plus).
- Electrical training with some telecommunications experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of microwave and fiber transmission concepts.
- Flexibility in working hours and travel, including overnight stays.
- Understanding of various client network topologies, radio access networks (RAN), and optical/microwave transmission infrastructure.
- Experience integrating and troubleshooting telecom cabinets and rack-mounted equipment.
