Responsibilities:


The Shipping & Receiving position is responsible for managing the inbound and outbound flow of products, raw materials, and supplies, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with food safety and quality standards. This role plays a critical part in maintaining smooth plant operations, safeguarding inventory, and meeting customer expectations.


1. Receiving Goods:

Unload, inspect, and verify raw materials, packaging, and supplies upon delivery.

Cross-check shipments against purchase orders and report any discrepancies or damages immediately.

Ensure all inbound goods meet the company’s food safety, quality, and storage requirements.

Maintain proper documentation and recordkeeping for traceability in compliance with food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, HACCP).

2. Shipping Products:

Prepare, label, and package finished goods for shipment following customer specifications.

Generate necessary shipping documents, including invoices, bills of lading, and packing lists.

Coordinate with logistics providers to ensure on-time pickups and deliveries.

Verify outbound shipments comply with food safety, product quality, and labeling standards.

3. Inventory Management:

Track product movements and maintain accurate inventory records using ERP/WMS systems.

Perform regular cycle counts and physical inventory audits to prevent discrepancies.

Ensure proper storage of ingredients and finished products to prevent contamination or spoilage.

Rotate inventory following FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles to maintain product freshness.

4. Safety and Compliance:

Follow all safety protocols and ensure that the shipping and receiving area meets OSHA and company safety standards.


Ensure the facility complies with food safety standards, such as HACCP, SQF, and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).

Immediately report accidents, injuries, or safety violations to supervisors.

Wear proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as required (e.g., gloves, masks, safety glasses).

5. Quality Assurance:

Collaborate with the quality team to inspect incoming materials for compliance with food safety and quality standards.

Ensure that all outgoing shipments meet product specifications and customer requirements.

Monitor environmental conditions (e.g., temperature, humidity) during product handling and storage.

Maintain sanitation and hygiene standards in the shipping and receiving areas, preventing cross-contamination.

6. Team Coordination:

Communicate with production, quality assurance, and warehouse teams to ensure smooth operations.

Provide updates on shipping schedules and delays to relevant departments.

Support the training of new employees in shipping and receiving procedures.


Requirements:


Previous experience in shipping, receiving, logistics, or warehouse operations (preferably in the food industry).

Familiarity with ERP/WMS systems for inventory tracking.

Ability to operate forklifts and other equipment (certification preferred).

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs (22 kg).

Knowledge of food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, FDA, GMP, SQF).

Good communication skills to collaborate with internal and external partners.

Flexibility to work in cold storage environments and adhere to plant hygiene standards.


Working Conditions:


Exposure to varying temperatures, including refrigerated and freezer environments.

PPE will be provided and must be worn at all times in designated areas.

Adherence to strict hygiene and sanitation protocols is mandatory.
