Import Specialist

 Global importer and exported is seeking an experienced Import Specialist.
 
Location: Cranford, NJ
Pay: $27-28hour
Job Type: Full time
 
    • Initiate and maintain key customer master profiles according to client requirements/special instructions

    • Sales support for Key import accounts 

    • Investigate problems

    • Multitask between ocean and air operations

    • Delegate responsibilities in accordance with Manager directives

    • Ensures that the team follows the Operational Data Quality Policy- Team training and file auditing 

    • Develops relationships with clients and serves as an escalation point as needed

    • Receive, review, and process documentation (such as B/L and AWB, manifests, invoices, packing lists, debit notes… etc ) for each shipment accurately, thoroughly, efficiently and performing all functions within a strict time frame.

    • Ensure all required documents are received from overseas/origin agents

    • Ensuring Compliance including accurate AMS and timely ISF Filing

    • Tracking/tracing of cargo

    • Issuing Arrival Notices in a timely manner

    • Expedite inbound import traffic to facilitate customs clearance

    • Prepare, route, and distribute manifests as required

    • Arrange/Approve Payments for Charges Due

    • Accurately perform all billing, distribution and collection of funds for the client's cargo.

    • Approves trucker bills, agent invoices, and SSL bills.

    • Resolve Billing Disputes

    • Interdepartmental Communication

    • Coordination with Brokerage Department for ISF Filings and Customs Clearances

    • Daily communication with overseas agents

    • Rate negotiation with vendors

    • Interact with customers, vendor and foreign agents with excellent service and manner

    • Correct billings and issue debit and credit memos for customers

    • Gives rate quotations to shippers and agents

    • Promote additional business opportunities for the Company

    • Other duties as required

     

REQUIRED:
  • 3-5 years of experience and knowledge in the freight forwarding industry

  • Experience in FCL / LCL Ocean Cargo logistics and documentation 

  • Knowledge of general freight forwarding terms and standards.

  • General Knowledge of Trucker and Carrier 

  • General knowledge of NVOCC operation

  • General knowledge of Bills of Lading

  • Ability to perform Basic Math Skills

  • Cargowise Knowledge

  •  

    Familiarity with ABI, AMS and ACE

  • Web tracking

  • Very organized and attention on details

  • Knows how to prioritize the work

  • Good Written and Oral Communication Skills

  • Good Time Management Skills

  • Good Organizational Skills

  • Willing to work as a team and help each other

  • Multitask oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment
